The M.A. in Higher Education and Student Development equips and inspires those who mentor our youth. Prepare for professional positions in student affairs in schools, colleges, and universities, with a special focus upon emerging adult identity and spiritual formation.

Program Overview

We equip academically grounded, spiritually maturing, diversity-focused, and practically skilled professionals who humbly, compassionately, and wisely develop emerging adults, minister the Gospel, and build up God's people in today’s world.

Our program prepares you to:

  • Articulate biblical, theological, ethical, cultural, historical, and philosophical foundations in student affairs
  • Identify characteristics of emerging adults and how these attributes influence educational, developmental, and spiritual formation
  • Comprehend organizational, management, and leadership theory and practice
  • Understand student affairs functions and legal and professional issues in higher education
  • Engage in conflict mediation and resolution practices and demonstrated, effective, intervention strategies
  • Teach and lead effectively, while appropriately integrating truth, facilitated reflection, and experiences with integrity, humility, and grace
  • Build healthy communities and foster holistic development of individuals
  • Serve collaboratively and compassionately as part of a team

Our Curriculum

In this 40-credit program, you will engage in coursework related to the history of higher education and student affairs, organization and administration of student affairs, discipleship and spiritual formation, characteristics and development of emerging adults, kingdom diversity and justice, student and staff wellbeing, legal issues in higher education, and program evaluation and research.
