Should I apply to the College of Arts and Sciences or to the Conservatory of Music?
Applicants may apply to the College of Arts and Sciences or to the Conservatory of Music, but not both. Those who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music Education degree should apply to the Conservatory of Music. All other applicants should apply to the College of Arts and Sciences.

Are interviews required?
Interviews are an optional and recommended part of the admissions process that allow us to get to know applicants better. They are scheduled upon request according to availability.
How do I arrange an interview?
Interviews are an optional part of the application process that allow us to get to know applicants better. Appointments for on-campus and telephone interviews can be scheduled by calling the Visit Coordinator at 800.222.2419 x2 or by emailing us.
Students who are living outside the United States are welcome to schedule a Skype or phone interview. Please send a request for an international interview to admissions@wheaton.edu.
Do I need to submit SAT and ACT test scores?
We have removed the standardized test score requirement for first-year and transfer students applying for admission for through the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 entry terms. If you would like a standardized test score considered for admission, you can indicate this on your application. You can submit SAT, ACT, or CLT (Classical Learning Test) test scores. All test scores should be sent directly from the testing company to Wheaton College or included on your high school transcript.

Wheaton "superscores" the SAT, ACT, and CLT using the highest critical reading and math scores from any sitting of the SAT test, and calculating the highest composite ACT score using subscores from any sitting of the ACT test. - English Proficiency Requirements: apply to all international students and to U. Does Wheaton require the SAT and ACT writing section?
No, Wheaton does not require the Writing portion of the SAT or ACT. However, the writing scores are used for waiving or placement in Wheaton College writing courses for accepted students who choose to enroll. Does Wheaton require results from SAT Subject Tests?
Wheaton does not use SAT Subject Tests for admission decisions. However, SAT Subject Test results are used for placement and granting college credit to accepted students who choose to enroll. If an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course and exam are taken, the SAT Subject Test is not necessary. Are there minimum GPA, class rank, or test score requirements?
Although Wheaton College looks for students who are strong academically, the College does not have any minimum requirements for GPA, class rank, or standardized test scores. A combination of these factors is considered in making admission decisions.
What weights are attached to grades, test scores, essay responses and extra-curricular activities?
Admissions decisions at Wheaton College are based upon a variety of factors, including evidence of Christian faith, grades, test scores, essay responses, extra-curricular activities, and recommendations. Specific weights are not attached to the individual components.
Does Wheaton College take into account the rigor of an applicant’s high school academic program, the rigor of a school’s grading system, and the difference between weighted and unweighted grade point averages?
Yes, the rigor of your academic program, your school’s grading system, and whether GPAs and/or class ranks are weighted are all taken into consideration when we review your application. We evaluate your academic record in the context of what is available to you at your particular high school.

If I am accepted, can I defer my enrollment?
Wheaton does offer deferred enrollment for accepted applicants for up to one year. A student wanting to defer needs to fill out a request form from our office and submit a $300 deposit to hold their spot for the following year. The $300 deposit is not refundable, but will be credited to tuition upon enrollment. Deferment will not be granted to allow a student to enroll in another college, although approved deferred students may take one college course per semester during the deferral period for a maximum of 8 semester hours. Financial aid does not defer alongside enrollment; students will be reconsidered for merit scholarship and need-based financial aid under the criteria and offerings that apply to the anticipated entry term. Does Wheaton accept credit earned through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, SAT Subject Tests, and Clep Tests?
Advanced standing and college credit is given for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and SAT Subject Test scores. Credit is not given for Clep tests. Visit the Registrar's website for specific information concerning the scores that are needed to waive a course or receive credit.
Are dual credit/dual enrollment college courses accepted for credit at Wheaton?
Wheaton does accept dual credit/dual enrollment college courses. Talk to your admissions counselor for more information.
If I transfer to Wheaton, how do I know what courses will be accepted for credit?
Most credits earned at another accredited college will transfer to Wheaton if the courses are applicable to a liberal arts program. There are restrictions on certain courses taken in an online format. Incoming freshman can transfer as many as 40 credits taken prior to high school graduation, including credit from any national exams such as AP. Courses of a vocational or technical nature or courses in which a D grade was earned are not transferable (C- for Writing courses). Courses taken at an unaccredited college may receive some credit with the approval of the Registrar. The College reserves the right to decide the acceptability and applicability of degrees and credits earned at other institutions.
