MA in Biblical Exegesis Learning Outcomes

As a result of completing the M.A. in Biblical Exegesis program at Wheaton College, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:

  1. Develop knowledge of the mechanics of language in Hebrew and/or Greek that is sufficient foundation for a lifetime of exegetical work in the original language.
  2. A grasp of how hermeneutical informs one’s approach to biblical interpretation.
  3. Employ a multi-faceted set of skills in the exegesis of biblical texts.
  4. Develop insight into major themes of biblical theology and utilize them in the interpretation of specific passages.
  5. Develop an understanding of the methods of systematic theology and major topics, doctrines, and ethics within biblical revelation.
  6. Engage diverse ethnic, gender, and majority world perspectives on biblical interpretation.
