John Karesh '23 - My Next Step

By: Amanda Miller '22

I look forward to transferring from my community college to Wheaton because I am excited to live on campus and fully join Wheaton’s community. Commitment and organization in the transfer process were necessary throughout, but I’m so glad I stuck with it! Amazing Wheaton alumni from my high school and community have shown me that Wheaton prepares people to thrive. The way they serve God and influence people drew me to Wheaton and now motivates me as I prepare for this fall. Wheaton backs up their reputation for excellence with classes that will challenge and change me, and I can’t wait! Even so, trusting God with the decision to transfer was difficult. I experienced uncertainty even just a few months before my transfer was finalized. I know, though, that the best place for me to grow next will be Wheaton. Wheaton is very different from my community college, from the close-knit community to the professors’ personal care for students. Academically, as I look toward grad school I’m confident that Wheaton will prepare me well to succeed there and elsewhere. If you’re considering transferring to Wheaton, congratulations on taking the next step by reaching out to get more information! I have benefited from spending time talking to the admissions office and making friends through programs that I was already involved in, like ROTC. I recommend that you visit campus if you are able, and immerse yourself in Wheaton’s culture so you’ll be better able to see if it is right for you.
