Grace Yoon '22 - Serving God
By: Shula Hui '23
I chose to major in Applied Health Science to prepare for my educational and career goals. When choosing my major I focused on what I liked doing and what I could push myself to do rather than what others believed I should do. I knew that finding work that I enjoyed would make life easier in the long run. I realized that I always jump into action if someone is in trouble, so I decided that I wanted to help people professionally.
The summer after my freshman year, a medical missions team came to my home in Kenya. I saw the team helping people and spreading the gospel at the same time. The doctors and physician’s assistants were so loving and inspiring; living out the gospel, they would go out to struggling areas and treat the patients. Their work created opportunities for my dad and the local pastor to share the good news.
I saw the missions team build relationships with the locals and bring people to Christ. Watching them serve others made me want to do the same work for God. I looked into positions in the medical field and decided on a general role as a physician’s assistant. Through learning practical medical skills, I hope to be an encouragement to people everywhere and a light for Christ
