Caroline Catanzarite '21 - My Scholarship Experience

Leading up to my college decision, I struggled to choose between Wheaton and my large state school. Financial aid played a significant role in this 4 year commitment. I spent months comparing differences between the schools. How would my social life look at each campus? How different would I feel in a classroom of 200 students vs. 20? Socially, I wanted to be surrounded with people who would challenge me in my faith and personal life. I wanted to build quality, long lasting relationships with people who would push me to be better. Academically, I wanted to have personal relationships with my professors and class discussions.

After identifying these desires, I felt like Wheaton would be the best fit for me. It simply came down to the financial commitment. The admissions team took time to understand the needs of my family and me and made it clear they wanted to do everything in their ability to meet us where we were at. After speaking with Wheaton’s student financial services and receiving a scholarship, Wheaton became a realistic option!  It was comparable to my state school, giving me the financial freedom to choose my university based on what I was really looking for. Without the generous scholarships given to me and student financial services, I would not have been able to attend my dream college.
