Meghan Kwong - Fellowship and Friends

By: Meghan Kwong '23

I chose Wheaton because I desired a spiritual community; I wanted friends to fellowship with and a mentor to guide me. The people here continually strive for stronger relationships with God and each other. It’s crazy how close you get in such a short period of time. I’m particularly grateful for the people on my dorm floor and in my small groups. Coming back to my dorm felt like coming home.

My RA supported me during my transition to college, and the girls next door became some of my best friends. We’d get weekly meals, take part in floor activities, and cheer for each other in a chaotic fifty-person group chat. Last year, I joined a bible study with some of the girls on my floor and a small group with people in the Asian community. After intentionally meeting and sharing our lives with each other every week, we created some of my best memories of freshman year. Not only have I made wonderful friends, I’ve also found mentors in upperclassmen and professors.

It’s common to get one-on-one meals, share stories, and discuss hard topics with students and professors. I’ve received so much wisdom and encouragement from the people around me, and I’ve grown substantially as a person. It’s special living and learning in a community of believers because we support each other in all aspects of life. Need prayer or want to jam out to your favorite worship songs? I invite you to come and join our community!
