If you wish to apply and audition for Early Action I or cannot come to a scheduled audition day, it is possible to request an alternate, individual audition. Please request a date knowing that our ability to accommodate your request is based on faculty and facility availability. Please do not make final travel plans until your request is approved and confirmed.

You can make your request through the Wheaton Application Portal.

Following the submission of a recorded audition, applicants can expect to be contacted to schedule an interview with a Conservatory faculty member as necessary.

Applicants should submit a video recording of the best possible sound quality. It is important that you present yourself as professionally as possible; for example, pianists should perform using the highest quality instrument available. We understand some students may have difficulty procuring instruments or recording equipment and are committed to equitable review.

To submit your video-recorded audition, please make individual videos of your audition pieces, scales, and arpeggios if required, and upload them to YouTube or Vimeo (or a similar video-hosting service). Send the links using the Audition Request Form. On the drop-down menu, please select “Submit video-recorded audition.” You may paste the links in the dialog box that appears or in the “Comments/Questions” box at the bottom.

Instructions and required repertoire are detailed by instrument on the Audition Instructions by Instrument page. At the time of your follow-up interview, you may be asked to sight-read/sing or offer examples of further technique. Time for Q&A will also be provided.

Note: Instrumentalists should play two scales and two arpeggios (four total, student choice).
