Dear Parents of Students in the Class of 2021,
Lord willing, in May we will celebrate the graduation of your student from Wheaton College. We praise God for the extraordinary privilege of helping to prepare your son or daughter for kingdom service in a world that desperately needs the truth and love of Jesus Christ. Your faithful support and prayers have been significant factors in this life achievement, which is made all the more remarkable by your son’s or daughter’s perseverance through a tumultuous year that has left none of us unchanged.
Assuming that we are able to complete Spring Semester in person, as hoped, Commencement will likely take place outdoors over the weekend of May 7 to 9. We will provide further information as soon as it becomes available.
Unfortunately, given State of Illinois public health guidelines as well as the current trajectory of COVID-19, we are unable to promise that family and friends will be able to join our graduates on campus. Thus, we ask you to prepare for the possibility that you may have to participate remotely, even as we join you in praying that you can participate in person and waiting patiently to see what God will do.
If in fact we are unable to welcome you in person, we will provide a livestream so that at least family and friends can join the proceedings online. Also, we plan to have a professional photographer take a picture of each graduate as he or she receives a diploma; these prints will be available for purchase.
We felt it was important to reach out to you at the beginning of the semester to let you know our current thinking. As our plans develop, and perhaps change, we will be sure to keep you closely informed.
In Christ’s Service,
Philip G. Ryken ’88
President
