Wheaton College President Dr. Philip Graham Ryken is pleased to announce the appointment of Silvio Eduardo Vazquez as Chief Enrollment Management Officer (CEMO).
Vazquez will serve as a member of the Senior Administrative Cabinet and provide leadership for all aspects of enrollment strategy and services, including Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and Student Financial Services.
Vazquez is currently Dean of Admissions at Westmont College. Prior to that, he was an enrollment management consultant at the higher education firm Scannell & Kurz (now Ruffalo Noel Levitz), where he worked on projects with colleges and universities across the country. During two decades of service at Gordon College, Vazquez held positions in Admissions; Advancement; and Alumni, Parent, and Church Relations, eventually becoming Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing.
Vazquez graduated from Gordon College with a B.A. in History and earned an MBA from Boston College with an emphasis in strategic planning and marketing. He is a native of Buenos Aires and a first-generation college graduate who grew up in Skillman, New Jersey.
Vazquez has been a panelist and speaker at professional meetings of The New England Association for College Admission Counseling, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), and the North American Coalition for Christian Admission Professionals (NACCAP). He is a contributing writer to University Business and Private Colleges and Universities, and has served on the CCCU’s Commission for Chief Enrollment Officers and the board of NACCAP. He has also served on the board of the Rockport Chamber Music Festival in Rockport, Massachusetts, and on the advisory board for New Hope Tutorials, a homeschooling network based on the North Shore of Boston.
Vazquez and his wife, Tara, have three sons.
“Silvio Vazquez brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the entire process of admissions and enrollment,” says Wheaton College President Philip Ryken. “He is a proven team leader who knows how to grow relationships on a college campus and make vital connections with the broader Christian community. His passion for student access and academic excellence promises to strengthen Wheaton’s Christ-centered mission.”
“When I think about my own formal education and my years of service in Christian higher education, I can point to several men and women who have walked through the halls at Wheaton who have been formative and influential in my life,” Vazquez says. “I’m thrilled and humbled to become part of such a vibrant and dynamic learning community of scholars. Wheaton College has a proud heritage, and the work it has done to produce servants and leaders speaks volumes. I’m truly blessed to join the good work that Wheaton College is doing to advance Christ and his kingdom in communities and cultures worldwide.”
Vazquez, who will be the College’s first CEMO, will report to President Ryken and work closely with the Provost; the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer; and Marketing Communications. He will start January 22.
