Meet Joshua M. Avery, Wheaton's newest assistant professor of library science and librarian for outreach and promotion.
Name: Joshua M. Avery
Education:
- B.A. History, University of Cincinnati
- M.A. History, Miami University
- M.S. Information Science, University at Albany, SUNY
Philosophy of Education:
I am committed to helping students learn how to better discover, organize, and produce good information.
Before Wheaton, I was:
The library director for a Bible college.
Right now I'm working on:
Trying to better understand the changes in scholarly communication as they relate to issues of open access.
One thing I wish I could teach everyone about my field:
The importance of academic libraries in fostering student success
Last book I read for fun:
Devices and Desires by P.D. James. I enjoy the way that James combines elements of faith and reason in her approach to crime fiction.
If I could travel anywhere, I'd visit:
Scotland and the North of England.
