Curriculum
This is an example. Please note that the most current and official curriculum information is found in our Course Catalog. The M.A. in Biblical Exegesis is a 42 credit-hour degree that offers a dual track in Greek and Hebrew or a track in one of the ancient languages. Full-time students can complete the degree in two years.
Prerequisite Requirements
If you are missing Greek and/or Hebrew prerequisite courses prior to enrolling in the M.A. in Biblical Exegesis, you may complete the Greek and Hebrew competency requirements concurrently with the graduate degree requirements.
The Ancient Language Tuition Rebate significantly reduces your costs for taking prerequisite courses in Hebrew and/or Greek. The award covers up to 16 hours of course work.
Degree Requirements
The M.A. in Biblical Exegesis offers you the unique opportunity to complete a dual track in Hebrew and Greek, or concentrate on only one of the ancient languages.

M.A. in Biblical Exegesis Dossier
The dossier involves a collection of essays and papers that students produce throughout the curriculum. It demonstrates that you have met the program learning outcomes. During your course work, you will specify to your professor that a given paper is to be assessed both in light of a given course’s expectations and for the attainment of a particular program's learning objectives. Once you have received approval from your professor, the paper will be included in your dossier.
Exemption from Classes
Depending upon prior coursework and demonstration that you have attained the appropriate learning outcomes, you may receive an exemption from the following classes (depending upon your track):
- BITH 508. Introduction to Hebrew Exegesis
- BITH 509. Introduction to Greek Exegesis
- BITH 565. Christian Theology
For exemptions in Introduction to Hebrew Exegesis and/or Introduction to Greek Exegesis, you will need to fulfill those credit hours by taking an additional 4-hour original language book study in the respective testament: BITH 635 and BITH 646. Students receiving an exemption from these classes will have to satisfactorily pass a language competency exam.
A 4-hour Christian thought course will replace an exemption from Christian Theology.
