Biography
Since 2009, Karen Felker has worked as faculty/staff at Wheaton College in the roles of Clinical Placement Coordinator, Licensure Officer, College Supervisor, and Instructor of Education in the Education Department. Prior to Wheaton College she taught elementary education for ten years in Community Unit School District 200. She successfully built and maintained positive, strong partnerships with both public and private school districts and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Licensure Division, and other state education agencies. She successfully secured required placements and ensured protocols were followed for teacher candidates completing licensure requirements and practicum in 35+ schools Grades K-12.
Karen Continues to successfully oversee the IL Teacher Licensure Entitlement process for Wheaton College’s students and graduates as Licensure Officer. She is an effective liaison between Wheaton College and ISBE. Her clear communication and collaboration are a benefit for those seeking state licensure reciprocity and transferring teaching licenses both out-of-state and country. She continues to be a dedicated, goal-driven professional with a strong commitment in building and maintaining positive relationships. She efficiently completes the teacher licensure entitlement process for current students and former graduates with passion and focus. She conducts licensure presentations/trainings, informs current education students of endorsement requirements, and is well-informed of current state licensure laws.
