HoneyRock believes in the intentional relationships built between counselors and campers as a way to pour into young people through purposefully designed experiences of learning, adventuring and living for Christ.
In Residential "Res" Camp, your camper will journey through each day with their cabinmates and counselors, enjoying bible studies, service opportunities, wilderness trips, and fun evening activities and campfires, together. In everything we do, from our camper worship to our reflection times to our activity times, we hope to develop campers to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. While we do many things together, we have distinct programming for both our Res Elementary Campers (entering 4th-6th grade) and Res Middle Campers (entering 7th – 8th grades) where both can encounter the Lord in age-specific ways as they learn who about God and themselves. Below you will find an outline of a typical daily schedule to better understand what to expect in our Residential Camp Programming.
Below, you’ll find the components of a typical day of Res Camp. We’ve found it helpful for parents and campers to talk through it before heading to HoneyRock.
Sold Rock is HoneyRock’s introduction to spiritual practices. We invite campers to pray, serve, run, and memorize Scripture as ways to experience God’s presence.
All campers take a few minutes of “alone” time to read Scripture, pray, and reflect.
Cabin leaders prepare fun, interactive lessons to bring God’s Word to life, challenging and encouraging camper’s walk with Christ.
We eat family style! You’ll come into the Dining Hall as a cabin and sit around a table with your cabin.
With 14 activity areas, it’s tough to be bored! From drama to waterskiing and archery to crafts, we offer a wide variety of activities to serve campers with a variety of interests.
Res Campers have the option to begin working towards their Basic, Intermediate, and Masters in any of our 14 activity areas. This progression involves technical skills in the activity, service to the area, and instruction of other fellow campers.
While activity areas are fun, they're also used to teach perseverance (it can take a camper 3-5 years to earn a Masters!), build confidence, learn how to fail and try again, and so many other life skills. Our activity areas are one of our most powerful tools for developing character and leadership in campers.
Every cabin will take part in a short wilderness overnight trip, with opportunities to play and explore the almost 1000 acres of natural beauty owned by HoneyRock. This is a fun experience where kids can play and explore, under the guidance of their trained leaders, in the great outdoors. Our 4th-6th grade campers experience a one night wilderness trip and 7th-8th grade campers spend two nights outdoors.
This is structured “free time” – visit the Beehive, play a game, visit the waterfront. . . the opportunities are endless!
