Summer Staff Application is Open

We’re stoked to kick off our recruitment season for Summer 2026 and are eagerly anticipating the incredible team the Lord will provide. As we begin this season, we invite you to join us in prayer, asking God to guide the right students to HoneyRock and to prepare their hearts for the work He has set before them.

If you, your student, or someone you know is college-aged or recently graduated and looking for a meaningful summer experience, we’d love to connect! HoneyRock staff have the opportunity to earn up to $2,200 while making a lasting impact on campers as cabin leaders, serving in vocational roles like guest services, photography, and construction, and facilitating activities such as horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing, arts and crafts, climbing, and more.

If someone comes to mind, please share their name with us! For more information, contact Sami Fox at sami.fox@wheaton.edu or share the application below.

11th Vanguard Gap Year Cohort

The 11th Vanguard cohort at HoneyRock is off to a fantastic start! All 19 students have arrived and are settling in well. They’ve participated in a formative week of backpacking, started their vocational tracks, and are engaging with our community. We are excited to see how God moves in the lives of the Vanguards this year. If you want to learn more about the Vanguard Gap Year, sign up for our upcoming webinar on October 21 with Program Director Charlie Goeke. The informational webinar is the perfect opportunity to ask your questions and explore how this transformative experience could be the right next step for you or your student.

Outdoor and Adventure Leadership M.A. Program Orientation

This fall, we welcomed 15 new graduate students into our Master’s in Outdoor and Adventure Leadership program. We had a week-long orientation that included a backpacking trip and a few online sessions for those out of state, including students from California, Canada, and India. These exceptional leaders work at HoneyRock and camps around the world while engaging in this coursework in a dynamic integration of experience, reflection, and learning. The OAL graduate program has trained over 120 leaders for camp ministry worldwide in the past 15 years, and we aim to expand our impact in the years to come. Click the link below for more information on how you or someone you know can join the program.

What is Wheaton in the Northwoods?

Wheaton in the Northwoods (WIN) is a unique May-term program we offer in partnership with Wheaton College! WIN is an immersive and intensive learning experience where students can fulfill most Christ at the Core general education requirements while engaging with exceptional Wheaton professors, building community, and exploring God’s creation in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin.

WIN 1 runs from May 16–29, and WIN 2 runs from May 30–June 12, with options to attend one or both sessions. It’s the perfect opportunity for students to get ahead on credits, grow academically and spiritually, and start their summer well!

HoneyRock Research Study

In 2023, HoneyRock’s graduate faculty Rob Ribbe and Rachael Botting received a 4-year research grant from the Lilly Endowment. The purpose of the study, called Growing Faith Together: Partnering Camp, Church, and Family for Generational Discipleship (previously known as Rhythms of Faith), is to empower parents and churches in leveraging the power of the camp experience for family faith formation. In the past year they've completed multiple site visits, produced research findings, and published their latest report: Promising Camp Strategies that Influence Family Faith Practices
