Renew Chrouser: A Year-End Giving Opportunity
We have a high-impact opportunity ahead of us as we aim to serve future generations of students and campers.
At the heart of our campus stands HoneyRock’s Chrouser Center, the central gathering place where authentic community comes to life. Built in 1996 and named after Harve and Dot Chrouser, our innovative and Christ-centered founders, it has brought together thousands of campers, staff, and guests over the past 30 years through shared meals, conversations, and games. This remarkable building plays a central role in our life-changing programs.
Due to normal wear and tear, year-round use, and the increased capacity in our summer programs, we are seeking to fund several enhancements for the Chrouser Center totaling $478K.
These include:
- Dining Hall Flooring: $92K. The original hardwood floor is in need of replacement. After many years of refinishing, the floor is now too thin to restore. New hardwood flooring and a tiled area in front of the serving windows are scheduled for February 2026.
- Epoxy Kitchen Floor: $36K. The original kitchen flooring is disintegrating. We plan to grind, prepare, and apply epoxy to renew the floor, thereby extending its lifespan by many years.
-
Deck Restoration: $310K. The current deck is usable but becoming unsafe and beyond repair. The new deck will feature maintenance-free composite decking and powder-coated steel railings, which will retain the current Northwoods aesthetic.
- Upgraded Kitchen Equipment: $40K. With a record number of campers last summer and an expected increase for Summer 2026, we need to both replace outdated kitchen equipment and add cooling, cooking, and warming capacity.
We are excited to report that we’ve already raised $207K toward our goal! We invite you to help us raise the remaining $285K by the end of January.
Will you join us in advancing the mission of HoneyRock by giving to this project?
God Bless,
Matt Erickson ‘95
