You will meet with your intern therapist in a private room just like a normal therapy session. Your treatment team will not be in the room with you.
You will have a small team of dedicated therapists who will be observing your therapy, through a secure video feed, in a separate room. Your team will include a Wheaton College faculty expert and a small team of therapy interns. Your team will be observing in real time so they can become immediately involved in your care.
Your therapy session will last 50-60 minutes, just like a normal session. At some point during your session (usually at about 40 minutes into the session), your therapist will let you know that it is time to take a short pause. While you relax in the therapy room, your therapist will consult with your Treatment Team receiving their insight and guidance in a separate room. After their consultation, your therapist will come back and shares the team’s insight and suggestions for you, which you can then talk through together and incorporate into your care.
Treatment Team is dedicated to your family’s therapy process. While you are working with your therapist, your team is actively collaborating to think through which therapy interventions will be most effective for you and your loved ones. Think of it as your team of therapists who are working hard for you so that you can receive the best care possible.
Treatment Teams are helpful for couples and families because there are multiple dynamics that happen within and between each person. We want each person to be seen, heard, and understood, and this process helps us to think deeply about each person’s perspective.
Treatment Team therapy is available for a limited number of clients who would like couple’s or family therapy. The Treatment Team is available from October through March.
Treatment Team Care is the same cost as other types of therapy. Please go to the “Services & Pricing” page for more information.
It can be a bit scary to think about having a team of therapists involved in your care. Afterall, therapy is a place where we share our deepest fears, and we might be concerned about being judged or misunderstood by people we don’t know.
At the MFT Clinic, we want you to feel empowered and encouraged in this process. Here are some things to know about Treatment Teams:
- Our therapists work from a strengths-based approach. We highlight your strengths while helping you work through areas of struggles.
- Your therapy is confidential and private. Our team abides by protected health and HIPAA regulations.
- Your care is guided by a seasoned Wheaton College faculty therapist who will guide your team to find the best evidence-based solutions possible for you and your family.
Our intake team can help you determine if Treatment Team therapy is right for you and your loved ones.
