CE Credits and Learning Objectives

This CE Course satisfies requirements for the professions of: Licensed Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, and National Certified Counselors. (Participants are responsible for verifying that the training meets their specific CE requirements.)

The School of Psychology, Counseling and Family Therapy at Wheaton College is approved by both the State of Illinois, Department of Financial & Professional Regulation as a continuing education sponsor for Social Workers (159001237), Professional Counselors (197000212), Marriage & Family Therapists (168000202), and Psychologists (268000032), and may offer continuing education hours for events that meet continuing education requirements for the state of Illinois; and by the National Board for Certified Counselors as a Continuing Education Provider for National Certified Counselors (4597). Wheaton College is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.

 

Learning Objectives Day 1: 

  1. Reflect on recent professional, legal, and ethical developments as they relate to work with sexual identity concerns and gender diverse persons.
  2. Apply knowledge about common milestone events in the formation of sexual identity as a sexual minority to assessment in clinical practice.
  3. Apply and develop competence in helping clients to navigate sexual and religious identity conflicts in a client-centered manner.
  4. Identify dominant stories (problem narratives) from multiple sources of influence in a client's life.

 

Learning Objectives Day 2: 

  1. Identify recent trends among gender diverse persons seeking clinical services
  2. Apply and develop competence in helping clients to navigate gender identity and religious identity conflicts in a client-centered manner.
  3. Apply knowledge about risk factors for psychological well-being among gender diverse persons of faith
  4. Develop an adequate degree of comfort with working with gender identity issues presented by individuals and families in conflict.
